“Sculptor Jeff Zimmerman designed this Splash Bowl as part of a collection called Soft Explosion for Steuben Glass. The series is inspired by the photography of Dr. Harold Edgerton, the inventor of flash photography and his images that “revealed what the unaided human eye had never before witnessed: evidence of a universe of energy, form and pattern beyond sight but ever-present, miraculous.”. Zimmerman’s Soft Explosion consists of six designs and an additional series of one-of-a-kind objects that include vases, bowls and centerpieces. Says the artist; “essentially, my work is a narrative of such moments in glass – phenomena of explosive patterns that occur in Nature”. “Print-on-demand sites like Lulu allow you to create and publish your own book. If you’re primarily a writer, you might be tempted to hire a professional designer to create a cover for your book. Before you do that, consider creating a simple yet elegant book cover using the open source Kooka scanning software and the Inkspace vector drawing application”
