Industrialisation

Britain deliberately prevented Sudanese industrialisation. Every post-independence plan has been aborted — by coups, by IMF conditionality, by war. The Industrial Location Analysis shows manufacturing was locked into Khartoum by colonial design. This is not bad luck. It is documented policy.

The most systematic study of Sudan's manufacturing geography from the colonial period through 1980. Shows that deliberate non-industrialisation policies under British rule concentrated manufacturing in Khartoum and created regional inequalities that independence never corrected.
